Saba Advances Enterprise Learning and Talent Management

New Web 2.0 Collaboration and Unified Search Enable a Fully Connected Corporate Community

Redwood Shores, Calif.—March 11, 2008—Saba (NASDAQ: Saba), the premier people management software and services provider, today announced the availability of powerful, new capabilities for the Saba Enterprise Suite. The new Saba Knowledge Center delivers Web 2.0 collaboration, recommendation and power search features that take informal learning to the next level by enabling organizations to broadly capture and access institutional knowledge. Other significant enhancements include continuing education (CE), certification and compliance capabilities, along with improved talent management analytics and competency framework.

“Organizations have long understood the power of peer-to-peer, informal learning; however capturing critical information from experts and teams across an organization has often been ad-hoc, difficult to locate or not captured at all,” said Amar Dhaliwal, senior vice president, product operations group at Saba. “By delivering these new innovations as part of Saba’s unified people management platform, we are helping our customers improve business results by creating connected communities focused on organizational goals.”

Key Saba Knowledge Center features include:

A single portal to search across institutional knowledge - enables employees to search for courses of any delivery type, certifications, curricula, experts, communities of practice, websites, wikis and more. In addition, search filters are dynamically updated, resulting in smarter, faster and personalized search over time.

Robust collaboration that enables a connected corporate community - allows employees to tap into experts throughout the organization. With support for peer-to-peer learning, the community is able to contribute to the central, searchable knowledge base as well as tap into knowledge found in communities of practice, wikis, discussion forums and Q&A repositories—invaluable vehicles of collaboration and learning.

New learning recommendation capabilities - Saba’s new learning recommendations engine monitors learner activity to suggest personalized, relevant tools in real-time to engage learners and improve productivity.

Enhanced Competency Framework – provides customers with a more flexible, configurable way to assess employees’ competencies.

In addition to the Saba Knowledge Center, Saba Enterprise 5.4 advances talent management with new features that provide organizations with advanced continuing education (CE) support. Financial services, healthcare and other industries with complex CE requirements can benefit from flexible, configurable capabilities that accommodate complex, varied programs in practice today. New capabilities, which greatly simplify program management include:

Manage CE activity through a single, actionable plan – enables users to view activity across courses, certifications, goals and competencies. This integrates CE into users’ overall work priorities, to help align CE requirements with business objectives.

Enhanced plan and requirement management – allows managers or administrators to assign plans manually, set up associations to automatically assign plans or use Saba’s prescriptive engine to push requirements directly to users based on complex criteria. Grace periods, ability to “lock” plans and other features give users the flexibility to manage plans effectively.

Role-based credit capabilities – easily and automatically assigns different levels of credit by user role or by course role as well as simplifies the process of managing instructor, student or other industry-specific role-based credit requirements.

Compliance history and self-reporting – provides users with the tools they need to self-report on CE compliance, including the ability to view and report on their own compliance history by plan, requirement, field of study and course.
